Re: Scaling with Openshift version 1.2

The only thing that really changed for scaled apps with OpenShift Enterprise 1.2 is that it starts with one web framework gear by default instead of two. You can request more by setting the minimum scale greater than 1 (see rhc cartridge scale --help).

It was always the case for scaled apps that the first gear has both HAproxy and the web framework cartridge, while any DB cartridge would get a separate gear. The diagram is correct except that for the first gear, HAproxy and the web cartridge are on the same gear.

Subject: Scaling with Openshift version 1.2

Hi,

As Openshift has been updated with version 1.2 having lots of new features.

I am using Scaling feature and now it uses only one gear for HA-Proxy and web cartridge.

https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/OpenShift_Enterprise/1/pdf/1.2_Release_Notes/OpenShift_Enterprise-1-1.2_Release_Notes-en-US.pdf

Scaled Applications Start with One Gear

Scaled applications by default now begin with only a single gear which includes HAProxy and the chosen

web framework. The second web framework-only gear is added by setting the scale minimum for your

cartridge .

So need to understand how this would impact the existing architecture. How would the web traffic routed?

Does this also mean that the attached diagram will no longer remain valid? Since could not see any updated diagrams/docs regarding the same.

Thanks,
