As long as you are able to transform all of the references to cloud_domain consistently both on the broker and nodes, you should be OK.  All of the references in the broker will bin in the mongodb.  On the node there may be references in the httpd related configuration files both in /etc/httpd/* and in each of the gear's home directories.  I don't think there's anything complex about it.  The problem is just finding every occurrence and changing them consistently.
