Re: Fedora 19 + Openshift Origin latest + JBoss cartridge :: gear post receive error

Robert

I've set aside time in next couple days to reproduce your issue and see if I cannot get it corrected.

Hi everybody,

I was wondering if anybody (from RedHat?) could help me with my problems below? Has anybody gotten the Java cartridge working with an install from scratch?

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Robert

Subject: Fedora 19 + Openshift Origin latest + JBoss cartridge :: gear post receive error

Hi openshift community,

did anybody experience similar problems when installing open shift and trying to deploy a jboss webapp?

I have installed Fedora 19 (+updates) + used the comprehensive guide (http://openshift.github.io/documentation/oo_deployment_guide_comprehensive.html) to install the nightly build of open shift origin.

after getting the console running  (I'm still hitting bug 960294 ==> loader-dark.gif isn't precompiled and fixed it with cd /var/www/openshift/ + RAILS_ENV=production rake assets:precompile) I tried to create a Jboss app and run in the following problems:
gear postreceive fails with several erros:

1) Problem in /usr/share/rubygems/rubygems/path_support.rb

[jboss-test.sap.devex 521e5f456892df3e1200001d]\> gear postreceive

from <internal:abrt_prelude>:2:in `<compiled>'
An error occurred executing 'gear postreceive' (exit code: 1)

Debugging this problem showed that the method "path" is called twice during "gear postreceive" and for some reason the 2nd time "Gem.default_path" returns nil.
I temporarily fixed this problem by hard-coding the path and and ran in problem 2.

2) oo-cgroup-read fails to get username from userid:

[jboss-test.sap.devex 521e5f456892df3e1200001d]\> gear postreceive
/bin/oo-cgroup-read:122:in `getpwuid': can't find user for 1002 (ArgumentError)
from /bin/oo-cgroup-read:122:in `<main>'
An error occurred executing 'gear postreceive' (exit code: 1)
Error message: Failed to execute: 'control build' for /var/lib/openshift/521e5f456892df3e1200001d/jbossas

I wrote a lithe test ruby script within this account:

require 'etc'
STDERR.write Etc.getpwuid(Process::Sys.geteuid).name

and that runs just fine.

Is oo-cgroup-read executed under a different user when running "gear postreceive"?

3) after temporarily hardcoding this problem my jboss test app still doesn't run with the following error shown when the app is started:
Starting gear...
Starting jbossas cartridge
Found 127.1.245.1:8080 listening port
Found 127.1.245.1:9999 listening port
CLIENT_MESSAGE: Could not connect to JBoss management interface, skipping deployment verification

Thank you for any help in advance!

Regards,
Robert
