Re: Error: MountVolume.SetUp failed for volume ... Error: MountVolume.SetUp failed for volume ... with: rbd: map failed exit status 1 ... -1 did not load config file, using default settings

"rbd: sysfs write failed
rbd: map failed: (1) Operation not permitted"

These messages indicate a permission issue. Do your ceph user and keyring have permission to map the rbd image?

I use  OpenShift Containerized instance.

In "origin-node" Docker container, I can mount Ceph RBD image (gist: https://gist.github.com/harobed/0c24a772e9731c2772caca53f829d751):

-bash-4.2# docker exec -it origin-node bash
[root atomic-test-node-1 origin]# rbd --id admin -m 172.29.20.10:6789 --key=SECRET list

[root atomic-test-node-1 origin]# mkdir /mnt/image5
[root atomic-test-node-1 origin]# mount /dev/rbd0 /mnt/image5/
[root atomic-test-node-1 origin]# ls /mnt/image5/
lost+found
I use same rbd command with same parameters that here : https://github.com/openshift/origin/blob/master/vendor/k8s.io/kubernetes/pkg/volume/rbd/rbd_util.go#L236
I can also lock and unlock image.
rbd in OpenShift don't use /etc/ceph/ config files, all is set by command parameters.
What other tests can I do?
Best regards,
Stéphane
